Child Behavioral Support Referral Study
Evidence-based parent coaching improves child behavior and whole family health.
It is the recommended first-line treatment for behavioral concerns and diagnosable disorders, like ADHD. Unfortunately, these programs are not widely available and do not reach the families who could benefit from them.
This study will test a brief, online parent support program format, and a referral system from primary care to better connect families to these supports.
What will participants receive?
A referral directory for therapists providing parent coaching & skill-building
- Limited wait times
- Brief, online program
- Billed to insurance
- Multilingual providers
Half of clinicians will be randomized to receive a brief, 1-hour training in how to effectively motivate parents during a referral
What are clinician participants' responsibilities?
- Two brief (~10 minute) surveys on the training and referral process (A $50 gift card will thank you for your time completing each)
- When it fits families' needs, refer parents to study therapists. Total referral counts by clinicians will be tracked.
Who is eligible?
- Advanced practice primary care clinicians (Physicians, Residents, NPs, PAs) currently seeing clients ages 3-8
- You or your clinic must be able to provide your total number of child appointments
