Mission

  • Ensure that all parents and caregivers have access to the tools and resources they need to accomplish their goals in raising their children
  • Support parents in developing skills that increase their children's behavioral and mental health and set them on a path to success, and that increase parents' confidence, skills, health and opportunities
  • Lead research that informs precision delivery of the most effective tools for each family     
  • Elevate cultural strengths, community expertise, and research findings to inform healthcare practices and policy for more equitable, safe, and connected communities   

Goals

  • To create a trusted resource center for families and parents that (1) offers parent-focused clinical care and (2) produces scientifically-sound, culturally-responsive parenting resources 
  • Develop the go-to referral resource for primary care clinicians, school-based professional, and behavioral health clinicians who identify families that would benefit from parent-focused support to address social, emotional, and behavioral concerns they have about their child
  • Conduct rigorous research to 
    • Tailor support to the needs, values, and cultures of families
    • Address implementation and access barriers to effective parenting programs 
    • Improve referral processes to parent- and family-focused programs
    • Increase our understanding of the impact of parent-child relationships on health and education outcomes, to further inform resource development
